The happenings

Cue happy dance, my mom is flying in today from South Africa. I'm super excited about having her here for the next 3 weeks. Also excited about having her here because she can watch the girls for a little so I can breathe! It's no secret that Mariam is super clingy and I'm terrible about getting out. H and I haven't had a date night in awhile.

As the week winds down, work wise things should be getting calmer again. I have a new seamstress again that I'm working with, I've got the huge orders out (well most of them) and now I just have to focus on finishing up updating the website with the new products. Here's a couple pictures from the photo shoot and a few sneak peeks!

Family wise, the girls are anxiously awaiting Halloween. Layla wants to be a dragon. She lets us know every day. No correct that, she lets us know just about every hour. Time to buy that costume already. Serena already has her costume since she went to a little Halloween bash last weekend. I haven't figured out what Mariam is going to be yet.

Have a great Thursday!

Twinning

I don't pretend to know what it's like to have twins, but sometimes I imagine this is what it feels like. Over the past year if Mariam wants something, Layla wants it too, or vice versa. I've learned to just start buying two of everything.

We are working on sharing.

I don't normally take that approach with clothes since they are in different sizes, but sometimes I dress them in matching outfits. It's cute. What can I say?

A weekend getaway?

It's been about a week since I've blogged again. As I mentioned before, things have been crazy busy with the recent Groop dealz sales and getting everything done for my latest collection. I just got back from the photo shoot for it so I think I can start breathing a little easier now. Everything went smoothly and the weather was perfect!

More on that later, let's talk about why I put a question mark after weekend getaway. So the alone trip H and I had planned for just us two didn't pan out because we couldn't get a sitter or family to watch the girls. So we thought to ourselves "hey let's just head to San Antonio with the girls.". Hmmm..not such a great idea when you're taking a sick baby along. Mariam was super congested, it rained most of Saturday when we got there, and she pretty much just wanted to be carried by yours truly. She refused to be in her stroller. It was nice doing a little bit of strolling when my arm didn't feel like it was going to fall off, and lunch was nice along the river walk, but night time was rough. The next day we checked out the drive-thru wildlife ranch and that was a lot of fun! Afterwards we had lunch at The Buttermilk Cafe in New Braunfels which was a charming establishment of good home cooked classics such as meatloaf and fried green tomatoes. While the food was good, our little rascals were not. We paid the check quickly and high tailed it out of there. We had plans to check out more of the town, but I thought it was just best if we just went home. I'm hoping H and I can get that alone trip in after all in a couple weeks when my mom comes down to visit, but we'll see. Things are often unpredictable with children.

Have a great weekend!

Our Anniversary and a hello..

I've been MIA for the past week or so here. H has been on vacation this week so my schedule is always different when he's here. Today is our anniversary! Our little get away we were hoping for without the kids didn't pan out because we couldn't find childcare, so instead we decided to just drive to San Antonio with the kids today for the weekend. My mom is coming into town in October for 3 weeks so while she is here, we are planning to fly somewhere with a few of our friends for a weekend without the kids.

It's been so nice having H home for the week. It's a change of pace and the girls enjoy spending more time with him. I've said it before, but I'll say it again, I'm so lucky to have him in my life. I'm just as crazy about him as I was back when we were dating. Sure the years have brought days were I have to roll my eyes at him so far that they feel like they are going to fall out of my head, but there are days were I will also just watch him for a little while as he sleeps and thank God he was put in my life. I feel incredibly blessed to have this family we made together.

Shop talk

This week has flown by! Here we are almost to the weekend again. Yay! Even though I stay home during the week, I look forward to when H is home all day on the weekends and we get to spend all day together. He also starts his vacation next week--which means we really have to pick our destination already if we plan on taking a little trip for our anniversary. We have seriously procrastinated. We sort of had it planned out already since we were going to stay at a gorgeous  mansion in San Miguel, Mexico owned by a friend of his, but plans have changed and now we are looking at Belize, or Cabo--or maybe just somewhere in the US.

In other news, it's going to be pretty busy over here for the next 3 weeks as the biz is working with groopdealz.com for the next 5 days. On top of that, I've been trying to finish my latest collection that will be making it's debut next month. I'm really excited about it and we are having a photoshoot the first weekend of October. Between all this going on and a small vacation next week, I feel like I'm going to be under the gun. Hopefully it all works out.

Have a great Wednesday!

Our weekend

My babies are growing up. I swear I say this like a few times a month, but time goes by so fast. Even faster if you have kids. Yesterday we converted the crib to a toddler bed and by convert, I mean we just took off the front headboard. It's pretty neat because it can also be made into a full size bed. Mariam started climbing out of her crib last week so I figured it was time and we also moved Layla's bed into her room. Last night was the first night they shared a room. I'm super sleepy today but it went much better than expected.

This weekend we also went to a birthday party on Saturday so Friday evening I took the girls to the mall really quickly and then checked out Marshalls afterwards. I found these adorable Skechers shoes for Mariam.

Mariam's and Layla's outfits for the party.

Have a great Monday!

CHIC

I was thrilled to see FHJ Baby made it in print again! The gold wooden "hello" sign from my nursery/home décor line is featured in this month's issue of CHIC Magazine!

A special thank you to Pro-photographer and founder of GO4Pro photography and The Thriving photographer Leah Remillet for including it in her office makeover. Seriously her office is amazing!
