You can fix a fixer-upper with a little bit of love!

I love a good project and we've been on the hunt for a unique TV console, so when my husband came across a listing on Craigslist featuring an aqua blue distressed credenza that needed some love, I said yes! Originally I was going to keep the color it came in and just paint the wood parts showing white, but then decided it looked to distressed for my taste.

I asked the seller for the color paint she used but it was all sold out. Instead I went with a similar color from Glidden called "Sea spray". Before I got started painting, my husband made the front drawer flip down so it could be a media console. After he was done I got to painting and it look longer then expected, but let's face it, with 4 kids every project around the house takes a lot longer than you'd like. I absolutely love the way it came out! originally we were on the hunt for a white TV stand and I wanted a blue entry table instead, but I decided to step out of my comfort zone and change things up a bit. I'm really loving blue furniture these days.

Favorite off the shoulder tops

I've always loved strapless and cold shoulder tops and it's no secret off the shoulder tops are hot this season. I've been terrible lately about shopping for myself and I guess that's how it is when you have 4 girls. We'll go the the store and I usually end up buying them something. My vice lately has been comfort foods and drinks like chocolate, wine or Pepsi. Not healthy, but it calms me down after a stressful day with the kids. It could be in my head, but it makes me feel better.

Two weeks ago I scoured the internet for some off shoulder tops. Being the frugal mom I've been lately, I also wanted to find them at a good price. I found three tops I fell in love with at NY& Co. I hardly ever shop there but I will be shopping there more often. Here are the tops I bought which are still on sale. I've tried the other two on and the fit is great and they are adorable. I will note that the off shoulder tops do ride up if you move your arms above your head. The one shoulder top also runs big. I bought an x-small and it fits almost like a medium. I'll need to take the side in.

Have a great rest of the week!

Ava 8 months!

Weight
I haven't weighed her in a while so I'm not sure, but she's probably around 17 pounds. She doesn't have another checkup till 9 months.

Health
Her health has been really good lately as well as the rest of the family. Nobody has had a cold in awhile which I'm pretty relieved about. Layla and Mariam did get a stomach virus the first week of May, but thankfully Ava didn't get it and neither did Serena.

Sleep
Sigh....Still not getting any sleep around here. Her naps are short 20 to 45 minute naps and usually on the shorter side. It's been really difficult not getting any sleep. It's bad every night, but some are worse than others. Last night was a particularly rough one and it's really starting to get to me. I've been quite emotional about it all day frequently welling up with tears. I wish she was a normal sleeper.

Clothes
She currently wears 9- 12 month clothing and it's been fun using some of the girls old clothing again.

Diet
Still exclusively breastfeeding and eating solids. In my last update I was contemplating weaning her to see if it would help with her sleeping, but I wasn't ready to break the bond. She still won't take a bottle so I'll be starting to offer her a straw cup soon and she how she does. I'm going to breastfeed her at least till 12 months and switch her to cows milk if her sleep still doesn't improve. I would have liked to get to 2 years like Mariam, but we'll see.

Milestones

She's still crawling up a storm and says da-da, but I haven't been able to make out any other new words. She's such a joy to be around and a happy baby. They really do grow so fast, so even though I'm feeling like I'll never get sleep again, I know it will come. I just hope it's sooner than later. Not sleeping does a number on you emotionally.

Have a great Monday!
